ECU/TCU Wire Harness

Product Overview

This ECU/TCU wire harness is a custom cable assembly that breaks out engine control unit (ECU) and transmission control unit (TCU) connectors to OBD2, CAN bus or open-ended leads for bench flashing, calibration and data logging.

Existing builds cover a Bosch ECU service cable (ECU-BO), a 64-pin ECU connector to OBD2 female and DC (ECU-64POBDFDC), a CAN main cable (ECU-CAN-M) and 36, 94 and 96-pin breakouts to open leads (ECU-36P-O, ECU-94P-O, ECU-96P-O).

Connectors are sourced from TE, Amphenol, Molex or Yazaki according to the ECU type. Pinout, wire gauge and shielding are fixed on the drawing before production; assemblies are made to IPC/WHMA-A-620 and 100 % electrically tested.

Cactus Electronics: The Trusted Choice for Automotive ECU/TCU Data Debugging Harnesses
In the field of automotive powertrain debugging and performance optimization, accurate and stable data transmission is the core prerequisite for ensuring the efficient operation of engines and transmissions. Cactus Electronics is deeply engaged in automotive electronic connection technology, focusing on the design, R&D, production, and customization of harnesses for automotive ECU (Engine Control Unit) and TCU (Transmission Control Unit) interfaces. We provide reliable and professional connection solutions for automotive manufacturers, modification institutions, and R&D teams worldwide.
Precisely Meeting Core Needs to Empower Powertrain Debugging
Our ECU/TCU interface harnesses are specifically designed for core scenarios such as automotive engine condition monitoring, parameter calibration, and transmission shift logic optimization. Whether it is fine debugging of engine fuel injection and ignition timing, or data collection for transmission shift smoothness and transmission efficiency, the harnesses can achieve high-speed, interference-free data transmission, ensuring the accuracy and real-time performance of data feedback during the debugging process. Their functions are perfectly suitable for the entire workflow needs of automotive powertrains, from R&D testing to after-sales optimization, providing a solid connection guarantee for engineers to accurately control powertrain performance.
In response to differences in ECU/TCU interface specifications, installation space, and debugging scenarios across different vehicle models, we offer highly flexible customization services: from the selection of harness wire gauge and insulating materials, to the adaptation of interface types and harness lengths, and even the optimization of special environmental requirements such as anti-electromagnetic interference (EMI) and high-temperature resistance. All can be tailor-made according to customers’ specific technical parameters and application scenarios, ensuring that each set of harnesses is seamlessly compatible with customers’ equipment. This avoids issues such as low debugging efficiency or data deviation caused by insufficient adaptability of general-purpose products.
Authoritative Certifications + 100% Inspection Guarantee to Eliminate Product Defects
Cactus Electronics always prioritizes product reliability, and our ECU/TCU harnesses have obtained a number of global authoritative certifications:
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certification: From raw material procurement to production process control, we fully comply with international standardized quality management requirements to ensure compliance and stability in every link;
  • IATF 16949 Automotive Industry Special Certification: Built in accordance with the strict standards for automotive electronic components, meeting the automotive industry’s special requirements for product durability and environmental adaptability;
  • UL Safety Certification: The harness materials and electrical performance have passed safety tests, eliminating potential safety hazards caused by material aging and electrical failures.
More importantly, we implement a 100% post-production inspection process — every set of harnesses undergoes continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, high-temperature resistance testing, and full appearance inspection before leaving the factory. This ensures that the products delivered to customers are defect-free and fault-free, fundamentally avoiding debugging interruptions, equipment damage, or data errors caused by harness issues, and helping customers save time and maintenance costs.

FAQ

What is the operating temperature rating of this harness?

Standard PVC-insulated assemblies are rated to 80 °C; XLPE or TPE insulation raises the rating to 105 °C. Bench harnesses are normally PVC; harnesses left installed in an engine bay during road testing are quoted with XLPE or TPE insulation. The exact operating range for a part number is stated on its drawing and confirmed in the sample test report.

Is this overmolded harness waterproof?

Breakout harnesses are bench and workshop tools, so they are normally supplied unsealed. Where a harness is installed in the vehicle, overmolded or sealed connector versions are quoted per drawing. The ingress protection level (typically IP67 for a mated pair) is specified on the drawing and verified during sample validation. Non-overmolded assemblies can be supplied with heat-shrink or grommet sealing instead.

Can I customize the pinout and connector type?

Yes. Pinout, connector series and gender, cable length, wire gauge, jacket colour and overmold shape are all customer-defined. Every pin on the ECU connector can be mapped to a different destination, and unused pins can be left unpopulated to keep the harness compact. Send a drawing, a sample, or a pinout table and we return a 2D/3D drawing prepared to IPC/WHMA-A-620 for approval before tooling.

What is your MOQ for custom cable?

MOQ is confirmed per project and depends on harness complexity, connector cost and tooling. Prototype and pilot batches are accepted before mass production, so a new programme can start with sample quantities. Samples are produced in 3–7 working days and mass production runs 20–30 days after approval.

What testing standards do you apply for harness?

Production follows IPC/WHMA-A-620. Every assembly is 100 % electrically tested for continuity, insulation resistance and withstand voltage; the in-house lab adds temperature and humidity cycling, salt spray, connector insertion and withdrawal force, and cable bending tests. Inspection records are kept in the ERP system.
