Cactus Electronics: Your Trusted Partner for Custom IoT Harness Solutions
At Cactus Electronics, we specialize in designing and manufacturing high-performance wire harnesses tailored to the unique demands of IoT (Internet of Things) devices. Backed by IATF16949, ISO9001, and UL certifications, our solutions bridge the gap between IoT connectivity needs and industrial-grade reliability—empowering your smart devices to perform seamlessly in diverse environments.
Why Choose Cactus for IoT Harnesses?
IoT devices rely on stable signal transmission, durability, and adaptability—all areas where our harnesses excel:
1. Precision for Internal IoT Harnesses
Our internal IoT harnesses are engineered to fit compact device enclosures while ensuring uncompromised performance:
  • High-Conductivity Materials: Uses high-purity oxygen-free copper conductors to minimize signal loss, critical for IoT sensors and data transmitters.
  • Flexible Insulation: Adopts TPU/PVC insulation with excellent bendability, allowing easy routing in tight internal spaces without compromising durability.
  • Custom Sizing: Tailored wire gauges (22-30AWG) and lengths (±2mm tolerance) to match your IoT device’s power and space requirements, avoiding wire tangling or assembly delays.
2. Durability for External IoT Harnesses
For IoT devices deployed outdoors or harsh industrial settings, our external harnesses are built to withstand extreme conditions:
  • Wide Temperature Range: Operates reliably from -40℃ to 125℃, with silicone or XLPE insulation resisting UV, heat, and cold—ideal for smart agriculture, industrial IoT, and outdoor monitoring devices.
  • Robust Environmental Protection: IP67/IP68 waterproof ratings, abrasion-resistant nylon outer sheaths, and anti-tear construction to handle moisture, dust, and physical impact.
  • EMI Shielding: Integrates copper mesh or aluminum foil shielding to block electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable data transmission for IoT sensors and wireless modules.
3. Compliance & Quality You Can Trust
Every IoT harness from Cactus undergoes rigorous testing:
  • Adheres to global standards (UL 1581, IEC 60228) and industry-specific regulations, ensuring compatibility with your IoT devices’ safety and compliance goals.
  • 100% post-production inspections (continuity, insulation resistance, and mechanical stress tests) to eliminate defects and guarantee long-term reliability.
Our IoT Harness Applications
We support a wide range of IoT use cases, including:
  • Smart Home & Wearables: Compact, low-profile harnesses for smart thermostats, fitness trackers, and connected appliances.
  • Industrial IoT (IIoT): Heavy-duty harnesses for factory sensors, automated machinery, and predictive maintenance devices.
  • Outdoor IoT: Weather-resistant harnesses for smart agriculture (soil monitors), smart cities (traffic sensors), and environmental monitoring equipment.
Partner with Cactus for Your IoT Vision
From prototype to mass production, we offer end-to-end support:
  • Custom Design: Our engineering team collaborates with you to understand your IoT device’s specs, delivering tailored harness designs in 5-7 business days.

FAQ

What is the operating temperature rating of this harness?

Standard PVC-insulated assemblies are rated to 80 °C; XLPE or TPE insulation raises the rating to 105 °C. Internal builds are normally PVC; devices that run hot or sit outdoors are quoted with XLPE, TPE or silicone insulated leads. The exact operating range for a part number is stated on its drawing and confirmed in the sample test report.

Is this overmolded harness waterproof?

The external versions (IoT-OUT-2, IoT-OUT-3) are overmolded and sealed at the enclosure entry, so the cable exit keeps water and dust out; the internal build is unsealed. The ingress protection level (typically IP67 for a mated pair) is specified on the drawing and verified during sample validation. Non-overmolded assemblies can be supplied with heat-shrink or grommet sealing instead.

Can I customize the pinout and connector type?

Yes. Pinout, connector series and gender, cable length, wire gauge, jacket colour and overmold shape are all customer-defined. Board connector series, pinout, cable length and whether each lead is internal or sealed external are all defined by your enclosure design. Send a drawing, a sample, or a pinout table and we return a 2D/3D drawing prepared to IPC/WHMA-A-620 for approval before tooling.

What is your MOQ for custom cable?

MOQ is confirmed per project and depends on harness complexity, connector cost and tooling. Prototype and pilot batches are accepted before mass production, so a new programme can start with sample quantities. Samples are produced in 3–7 working days and mass production runs 20–30 days after approval.

What testing standards do you apply for harness?

Production follows IPC/WHMA-A-620. Every assembly is 100 % electrically tested for continuity, insulation resistance and withstand voltage; the in-house lab adds temperature and humidity cycling, salt spray, connector insertion and withdrawal force, and cable bending tests. Inspection records are kept in the ERP system.
